Hey, remember that old song from Huey Lewis and the News, "Hip to be
Square"? Huey says he cut his hair, was working out every day and
watching what he eats. Well, that was over 20 years ago, and these days
I think it's time to make getting fit hip again. In fact, more than ever
I'd say we need to spread the message, " it's hip 2 b fit"!
Remember back in the day when we all cared how we looked? You wouldn't
dare go to school if just one hair was out of place. Years go by, and as
we grew older, all of a sudden we found ourselves out of shape and
failing to think of reasons why it's important to keep in shape. But
there are lots of reasons to stay in shape or get back into shape: 1.
living longer, 2. general appearance, 3. living with less pain, 4. less
chance of diseases like diabetes, 5. less stress, and on and on I could
go.
I hope to grow this site with lots of helpful information to help
everyone get in better shape. No, I'm not a doctor although like a lot
of adults these days, I am going back to school and nutrional science is
my major. I've made fitness a lifestyle choice for myself. I hope
others will choose the same thing.
More and more people are succumbing to cancer, diabetes, heart disease,
etc. than any other generation. Obviously, a healthy lifestyle
doesn't guarantee a 100 percent protection from all health issues, but
it does radically improve your chances of avoiding many health risks.
As we develop this site, we'll talk about some of the biggest threats to
your health known to man, and it's available at your local grocery
store. In fact its in almost everything you buy. It's called
High
Fructose Corn Syrup, and you should avoid it at all costs. It's in soft
drinks, junk food, and almost any processed food with sugar now has it
thanks to it's cheap production costs. It's highly addictive and makes
you want to eat more and more, turning off the body's signals to the
brain that you are full. Now add to that the fact that any sugar will
spike your insulin, which makes you gain fat and pushes the accelerator
on the aging process.
